NWEA: We will take the Math NWEA on Tuesday, September 16th, and Wednesday, September 17th from 9:00/10:00-11:30. Please try to avoid absences on those days if possible. Students may bring in gum or mints to help wake up their brain!

Bookmarks and Reading:
Each student should have a bookmark and a good fit book. Please encourage your student to read 20 minutes nightly! Please read the following information about bookmarks:
  • They should fill out the bookmark every time they read, whether at school or home.
  • Their homework in fourth grade is to read 20 minutes each night.
  • Starting the week of the 29th, if their reading is not completed multiple times throughout the week, they will make up the reading during recess.
  • An adult can initial/sign their bookmark each night and they will receive five yards!
  • If students are reading multiple books, they should have a bookmark for each book.
  • When they finish a book, they can turn in the bookmark and get a new one.
  • Soon, we will start working on summaries and they can receive 10 yards for finishing the book and writing a summary!

Please encourage your child to complete his/her nightly reading for at least 20 minutes. We will continue to practice this routine through September. In addition, students are learning how to write a summary "gist" of who and what is most important from what they read. This will include the title, author, main idea, theme, capitals, and punctuation. This is an essential standard on the report card for 4th grade and a very important one! :) This can be done in school and at home, depending on when the student finishes the book. By the end of the school year, most students will have mastered this standard because of all the practice. That's why doing the "home reading" along with in-school reading is imperative.

Fall Conferences: Please click here to sign up for fall student led conferences. We will begin working on our slides this week!

Math: On Friday, we took the Unit 1 test. This week, we will begin Unit 2- Fraction Equivalence and Comparison. Additional practice at home using IXL Textbook and practicing multiplication fluency will be extremely helpful for kids who are struggling with this concept.

Snack Donations: If anyone would like to and is able to send in extra snacks, that would be greatly appreciated! I try to keep extras in case students forget their snack. Thank you!

Volunteer Opportunities: If you would like to sign up to volunteer for our class parties and/or help with copies, please fill out the Google Forms below!
