It was wonderful seeing you all at Back to School Night! Here is a link to the slides in case you weren't able to make it. If you did not make it, some forms were sent home with your student for you to sign and return. The forms are a field trip permission slip form, our school compact, Coppa Consent form, and the 1:1 Student Device Usage Agreement. Please sign and return these as soon as possible.

We had a great first week! It has been wonderful getting to know all of your students and I am excited for an amazing year. Thank you for all of the donated supplies to our classroom. We appreciate it deeply!

The first couple of weeks, we will be working hard on learning procedures and practicing bear behaviors, as well as building our classroom community.

Bookmarks and Reading:
Each student should have a bookmark and a good fit book. Please read the following information about bookmarks:
  • They should fill out the bookmark every time they read, whether at school or home.
  • Their homework in fourth grade is to read 20 minutes each night.
  • An adult can initial/sign their bookmark each night and they will receive five yards!
  • If students are reading multiple books, they should have a bookmark for each book.
  • When they finish a book, they can turn in the bookmark and get a new one.
  • Soon, we will start working on summaries and they can receive 10 yards for finishing the book and writing a summary!

Snack Donations: If anyone would like to and is able to send in extra snacks, that would be greatly appreciated! I try to keep extras in case students forget their snack. Thank you!

NWEA: Testing will begin on Tuesday, September 9th.  Students will take the NWEA in math and reading. We will begin testing each day at 9:00. Please consider not scheduling appointments in the morning if possible. Students can bring in gum or mints to have during the test. The results from the tests are beneficial for our teacher team to use to get to know your child as a learner and begin to set learning goals.

Math: This week, we will be starting our math learning. Unit 1 is "Factors and Multiples". Practicing Multiplication fact fluency at home will be extremely beneficial for your student during this unit.

Please fill out this Getting To Know You form if you haven't already so I can get to know your child better!
